February 25th-28th: Start Your Engines!

This Year we tried something new, a fundraiser that gave us time to have fun, work hard and serve the People of NASCAR at the Motor Speedway in Las Vegas!

We all spent days working to raise some funds for the Brotherhood and show the Race Fans that we were and are the NUMBER 1 Fraternity at NASCAR!

First Couple Days we were stationed at the Dirt Track and the Last Day was the biggest day of the all, stationed at Food Port 52, we were Rockin and Roarin, Servin and Soarin the best track food we had and we sang our hearts out, and to our surprise everyone loved it!

We have been invited to come back next year for sure and we will be more then happy to oblige the same Fantastic Service we Provided this Year for Next Year! Thank you to all the Brothers who came as well as the AMs who helped us make this Innovative Fundraiser the Best One Yet...

September 27th: NEW GUYS!

Now that all of the rush events are over it is time for BID DAY.  Make sure that you go to the Student Union on September 29th and pick up your bid (if you were fortunate to receive one).

This weekend is an away game in Reno.  Buy your ticket at CSUN's website.  Most of Lambda Chi is going up there so there will be plenty of rides.  It's time for UNLV to bring the Cannon to it's rightful home.

Homecoming is fast approaching.  Naturally we are keeping all of our entries secret until HC week but rest assured that it will be one to remember.

Check out these pics from Semi-Formal:

Congrats to the Rebels for beating Hawaii this week!

September 13th: DRY RUSH & WATERMELON BASH!!
This is the first week of Dry Rush.  The good news is that we are in full recruitment mode and in only two weeks we will have a new group of Lambda Chi Associate Members.  There are no official Rush events this week but coming up on the 23rd will be a Cabana (hopefully at the Hard Rock) and a Semi-Formal at the Palazzo on the 26th.  If you are interested in seeing what LXA is about, it is highly recommended that you  check out these events.  Get ahold of us for more info.

Watermelon Bash is THIS THURSDAY on the SWRC field in between the Rec Center and Dayton Dorms from 3pm-7pm.  All of the brothers will be there along with many lovely ladies from all of the campus sororities.  This is our biggest philanthropy of the year as we raise food for the North American Food Drive.  All potentials are more than welcome to come by and meet people and see our philanthropy in action. It won't come around again for another year!

Intermurals are just getting started.  Check out the new LXAthletics Sports Blog to keep up with games that you missed or come down to the rec center and make some noise.  Here's this week's schedule:

September 11th 2009: NEVER FORGET

To all the poor innocent souls lost on that day, to all the brave souls that risked their lives on that fateful day and to all the troops that have and continue to serve our country in the name of Truth, Loyalty and Justice:  THANK YOU!  You have given your heart and souls to protect and preserve the ideals that we all strive for in the name of freedom.  We can only hope to achieve as much as you have in your patriotism, and we will NEVER forget your sacrifice.

On behalf of Lambda Chi Alpha, the entire Greek system, the University of Las Vegas and the United States of America, WE SALUTE YOU!

September 6th: RUSH and HOMECOMING (with bonus picture goodness)

With Rush coming up soon, LXA is in full swing!  There are a ton of events coming up, both on and off campus.  Check us out at our Greek Info Booths, show your school spirit at all UNLV homegames and tailgates or just stop by the SU and say hi!

We have our skit all written for Homecoming and your LXA boys along with the ladies of Alpha Xi Delta and Kappa Delta Chi have been practicing it like crazy.  Homecoming tryouts are next week and we will be ready.  Of course, we want to keep the skit a secret so that it has the maximum surprise potential for game day, but it will be worth it!

Here are some pics with our Sweetheart Tiffany from Alpha Gamma Delta!

August 31st:  GOING GREEK?

With Greekfest and Premier last week, the Info Booths coming up on 8/31 and 9/1 and the LXA Concert on 9/3, there are plenty of opportunities to get a feel of what Greek Life is all about: being active, being passionate and getting the most out of your collegiate experience.  Keep checking the Event Calender for a complete list of rush and pre-rush activities.

Rebel football starts September 5th!!  Be there for our first home game against Sacramento....and don't forget the tailgate!

LXA is doing homcoming in October with Alpha Xi Delta and Kappa Delta Chi. The theme for this year is Super Heroes and our team has selected the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as our topic.  Watch for pictures coming soon.

Here are a few pics from Greekfest!

August 24th:  BACK TO SCHOOL

Summer is over and it's time to do work!  Don't worry, there's a lot of awesome things coming up this semester so get excited.

Watermelon Bash will be help September 17th.  This is our philanthropy and is always a great time for everyone.  Make sure you show up and work on your Service and Stewardship virtue.  This event is open to any new guys who are looking to see if LXA is right for them!

Greekfest is on Tuesday, August 25th.  Randy will be there handing out popsicles.  It is by the Student Union from 6-8pm and is free!  Stop by and hang out.

There is an alumni poker game coming up on September 12th.  If you're a LXA alumni and want to see how the chapter is doing, contact us and we will provide details.  It is a $20 or $30 buy-in (TBD) and some of that money goes to our chapter.

It's fall and that means UNLV Football is right around the corner.  Get your red shirts and and be prepared to get LOUD!

This year's Formal will be in Laughlin, NV and most likely will be on November 14th.

August 1st:  SUMMERTIME, AND THE LIVIN'S EASY

Even though it's the summer, Lambda Chi Alpha still has a lot going on.

We just got back from our Summer Retreat in beautiful Zion National Park.  All of the officers are hyped for the upcoming semesters with new plans and motivation.  There are some changes planned, but they are all in the interest of streamlining the chapter and becoming even better gentlemen than ever before.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the upcoming Golf Tournament.  We are very sorry to all the golfers and sponsors that we already had lined up, but the fundraiser deadlines were fast approaching and the cost was just too high.  Instead, we will hold a raffle with the sponsorships as the prizes.  Details are coming soon, so get ready!  The prizes are amazing and plentiful, and the overhead on our organization will be much less and allows us a lot more flexibility for the future.

There are many events coming up for the near future including an on-campus concert on September 2nd in Pida Plaza.  Check the event calander for a view of everything that is happening.

Check out some pictures from our Officer Retreat!

March 29th:  It's almost spring break!!

Having Spring Break so late in the semester has everyone really anxious to have a break, but that doesn't mean Lambda Chi Alpha stops handling business!

Lambda Chi Alpha has teams competing in both the intermural football and waterpolo playoffs this week!  We're proud of our athletics this semester.  Show up and lend your support!!

We're also working on a fundraising golf tournament for the summer.  There will be free golf clubs to all who enter, plus various prizes on each hole with the chance of a contestant winning a brand new car!  Part of the proceeds will be given to the North American Food Drive while the rest will go towards the chapter to fund events, philanthropies and keeping our dues the lowest on campus.

Get excited for this semester's newsletter.  The officers of Lambda Chi Alpha have it in the works and it will be finished before the end of the semester.

Greek Week (week of 3/22)

This week is the start of Greek Week and everyone over in your favorite fraternity is really excited!  For a complete listing of this week's events, head on over to the Event Calender.

LXA participated in a few philanthropies this week!  We did Kappa Delta Chi's and Sigma Theta Psi's philantropy and took second place!  Also, we were in Sigma Kappa's King of Hearts philanthropy and also took second place.  Check the Philanthropy page for pictures.  They should be up soon.

Did you miss LXA's A-team in the Indoor Soccer play-offs last week?  Unfortunatly for our A-Team, there was a paperwork mishap and we did not get invited to the playoffs.....which is sad because the LXA was the only undefeated team in the intermurals!  It was heartbreaking for everyone, but there's always other sports....

3/8/09

LXA's A-Team soccer is handling business!   So far they are undefeated (with one tie) and show no signs of letting up.  Show up to the games and support!!

We're having an alumni basketball game on Saturday March 14th.  It starts at Noon and is going to be at Becker Middle School.  Don't miss it!

Sunday, March 1st - NO DRINKING AND DRIVING

The LXA blog hasn't been updated for awhile.  Let's do it.

Nobody ever has a legitimate reason to drink and drive.  It's bad no matter how you look at it.  There's always someone to help you get home or a place for you to crash and even if there isn't, you can either get a taxi or call 456-RIDE, which is a company that will not only pick you up but will also drive your car home too.

On to other news:  LXA showed up in nearly FULL FORCE to DZ's Turtle Tug philanthropy this week!  We got 2nd place overall on the first day (with a first place for Cesar and Keith for the Jell-O eating thing),  Unfortunatly we only placed 5th place overall because DZ were giving points to fraternities for buying dates.....I mean...uh....baskets.....yeah.  Oh well.  Even though we didn't win, we still improved our relations with Delta Zeta, which is always a good thing. Check the Philanthropy page for pictures!

The Crescent Ball is coming up on March 13th!  The main event is going to be a Randy Roast.  Dinner is going to be Mahi-Mahi, herb chicken and oriental stir-fry.  After dinner there will be dancing to the spinning of DJ Chino!!

This semester is going to be amazing (1/19/09)
We have a whole slew of new things coming up!  Rush is coming up quick, complete with new t-shirts and all!  The new officers are getting it DONE and we have a promising few months ahead of us.  Expect nothing but the best!
